Рубен Мкртычевич Азизян – почетный профессор и бывший директор Центра по вопросам обороны и безопасности при Университете Мэсси в Новой Зеландии. Он специализирутся в области безопасности в Азиатско-тихоокеанском регионе, дипломатии и кофликтологии, проблемах сектора безопасностии и (гео) политических процессах в пост-советском пространстве. Профессор Азизян возглавляет Оклендское отделение Новозеландского института международных отношений, является главным редактором журнала «National Security Journal» и членом редколлегий ряда международных академических журналов. До работы в Университете Мэсси он преподавал в 2002-2015 годах в Центре по вопросам азиатско-тихоокеанской безопасности в Гонолулу, США и на кафедре политологии в Университете Окленда, Новая Зеландия в 1994-2001 годах. В предыдущие годы, с 1972 по 1994, Рубен Азизян находился на советской и российской дипломатической службе, включая загранкомандировки в Непал (1972-1978), Шри Ланку (1980-1985) и Новую Зеландию (1991-1994). Профессор Азизян родился в Ереване, где окончил в 1967 году среднюю школу номер 8 имени А.С Пушкина. Он получил высшее образование в Московском государственном институте международных отношений (МГИМО) в 1972 году и защитил кандидатскую диссертацию в Дипломатической Академии в Москве в 1987 году.
